Our Story
Ahalli takes its name from the place of its origin — Sumanahalli, a village on the outskirts of Bangalore whose name means ‘village of the kind-hearted.’ That spirit of compassion is not just our origin story. It is the way we work every day.
Every bag, wallet, and accessory you see in the Ahalli range is designed and hand-crafted by socially underprivileged and differently-abled artisans. People whose skill, courage, and determination are woven into every stitch. When you buy from Ahalli, you are not just buying a leather bag — you are part of a movement.
We are a movement of empowerment. A testament to limitless spirit.
Design & Sampling
Every Ahalli piece begins with a design developed in-house, either as part of our core collection or in response to custom requests. We work closely with our artisans from first sketch to final product — no shortcuts, no outsourcing.
Materials
We source premium raw hides from local markets across India, selecting only the finest quality for our range. Local sourcing means we can maintain close relationships with our suppliers and ensure every hide meets our standards before it enters our workshop.
Tanning & Coloring
After careful selection, our hides are treated using entirely natural, organic vegetable tanning — extracts from trees and plants that have been used by craftsmen for centuries. This slower process (compared to chemical chrome tanning) produces leather that is richer, more durable, and more beautiful over time. The leather develops a unique character that mass-produced goods simply cannot replicate.
Ahalli Leather: Blissful Offerings
Every product is finished by hand, stitched by hand, and inspected by hand. We do not use assembly lines. We do not rush. The result is a product finished to the highest standards — to the minutest detail.
Why Choose Ahalli
Ahalli is not just a leather brand. It is a choice to buy better.
When you choose Ahalli, you are choosing:
Full grain leather — the highest grade of leather, taken from the top layer of the hide. Stronger, more beautiful, and longer-lasting than corrected or bonded leather.
Vegetable-tanned leather — treated with natural, plant-based tannins using a centuries-old process. Richer in character, safer for the environment, and better for your skin than chrome-tanned alternatives.
Handcrafted by artisans — not machines, not factories. Every piece is made by hand by skilled craftspeople in Sumanahalli, Bangalore.
A product that ages beautifully — full grain leather develops a rich patina over time. The longer you use an Ahalli piece, the more beautiful it becomes.
A purchase with purpose — every product sold supports the livelihoods of socially underprivileged and differently-abled artisans. Your purchase matters.
